Safety Sleep Wrap

30 Jun

When our daughter was 6 months old, she was wriggling around the cot so much that she kept hitting her head on the slats. I borrowed a friend’s Safe T Sleep wrap and made my own out of a nice cotton fabric. Here’s my girl sleeping in it at 6 months old.

Cot Quilt Project

26 Jun

I started this project during my 6 months maternity leave. It sat around in various states of unfinished-ness until about 2 weeks before I was due to go back to work when I put myself into a frantic sewing frenzy trying to finish it before I returned to work. I wasn’t too sure if I would still have time to make stuff when I went back (turns out I was wrong on that front!).

Here’s the website where I got the instructions from: http://www.make-baby-stuff.com/easy-baby-quilt-pattern.html. I used the “strip quilting” method to make the patchwork strips, then got some wool/polyester blend batting from Spotlight for the filling. I also used basting spray (from Spotlight) to keep the three layers together as I put them through my sewing machine.

Here’s the end result:
